Private Luxury — 35 Acre Island In Hick’s Caye
35 Acre Island in Hick’s Caye
This 35-acre island in Hick’s Caye near the Belize Barrier Reef offers a unique opportunity for those looking to purchase their own island paradise. Centrally located just north of the coast of Belize City, this Caye is situated in the heart of the Hick’s Caye Archipelago, known for its abundant sea life, stunning natural beauty, and excellent snorkeling and diving. The island is located just west of the Belize Barrier Reef and two of its three beautiful coral atolls.
One of the main advantages of Hick’s Caye is its location, which is only 20 minutes from the coast and about 30 minutes from Belize City. This proximity helps to significantly reduce the cost of materials and transportation. Some areas of the land may require filling if development is planned, but there is an abundance of nearby white coral sand as well as just offshore.
A natural canal runs through the middle of the island, providing easy access from one side to the other and serving as a great place for mooring boats or other watercraft, protecting them from the elements. The waters surrounding the island are rich in marine life, including colorful coral formations, tropical fish, rays, four different species of dolphins, and occasional manatees.
Location
The Caye is located just 9 miles offshore, northeast of Belize City, and about 15 miles from Turneffe Atoll, which is surrounded by vibrant coral. Further east is Lighthouse Reef, known for being one of the healthiest reefs worldwide and home to “The Aquarium”, a top diving spot. Lighthouse Reef also features the Great Blue Hole, a natural wonder visible from space and considered one of the top SCUBA diving destinations globally.
Seven miles north lies Caye Chapel, home to a hotel and an 18-hole golf course. North of Caye Chapel is Caye Caulker, a car-free island where transportation is primarily via golf carts, bicycles, or walking. Further north is San Pedro on Ambergris Caye, the largest tourist destination in Belize, filled with resorts and restaurants. San Pedro is often referred to as a prime retirement location in the Caribbean.
